Ballet Classes Can Help Your Child Grow

Choosing an activity for your child to be involved in can help shape their future. There's a variety of options for after-school activities, but making the right decision for health, fitness, and discipline can often be tricky. The Studio Cooperative offers Ballet Classes that offer lessons in all these things and more while held in a healing and accepting environment. We invite kids ages 5-15 from Waldorf, La Plata, Brandywine, and beyond to come find healthy ways of movement and self expression to allow them to be independent, strong, and creative.

What Can Ballet Classes Offer My Kids?

One of the most important things for kids growing up now is finding a supportive environment to stay active and learn new forms of expression. Our Ballet Classes in Waldorf foster proficiency in ballet technique and cross training that is age appropriate while encouraging discipline, confidence, poise, and, most of all, fun! We use the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum so your child can continue into a life of loving ballet.

Learning Ballet can help your child:

  • Improve their physical coordination and posture
  • Make new friends in a safe, uplifting environment
  • Build confidence and self-discipline
  • Have a fun activity to look forward to after school

Waldorf's Source For ABT®'s National Training Curriculum

The Studio Cooperative is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels.

The ABT® National Training Curriculum is a program for the development and training of young students that embraces sound ballet principles and incorporates the elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training. Under the direction of ABT Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie, the National Training Curriculum was designed and written by Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens in collaboration with ABT Artist Advisors and the Medical Advisory Boards. The National Training Curriculum is a program for the development and training of young students that incorporates elements on kinetics and coordination, as well as anatomy and proper body alignment. Artistically, the National Training Curriculum strives to provide dance students with a rich knowledge of classical ballet technique and the ability to adapt to all styles and techniques of dance.

The Studio Cooperative Ballet Classes incorporate:

  • Music and rhythmicity
  • Coordination and kinetics
  • Quality artistic training
